In Valpolicella among ancient villas and the fragrance of Amarone

The Valpolicella area extends for 240 km to the north-west of Verona. This area, rich in culture and wine and food production, is bordered to the north by the Eastern foothills of the Alps, the Adige river to the south, the Valdadige valley to the west and the city of Verona to the east, while Lake Garda lies just 15 km further west.

Known since ancient Roman times for its wine-growing activity, and particularly for the production of its famous Amarone wine, Valpolicella is also famous for its red Verona marble and its landscape, dotted with an infinite number of important Venetian villas, with their capitals, chapels, parish churches, hamlets and courtyard complexes, which further enrich the territory with years and years of history. One of these is the splendid Villa Mosconi Bertani in Negrar, with its famous, beautifully frescoed, three-storey high Hall of the Muses.
