Amourrina: an artistic tribute to Murano

Amourrina: an artistic tribute to Murano

At the prestigious 60th Venice Art Biennale, Amourrina - a brand that aims to innovate traditional Venetian glass beads with a pop touch - presented a special capsule collection that, in addition to offering exclusive jewelry, intends to be an act of commitment to the preservation of ancient Venetian craft techniques and culture.

The “For Art Lovers” limited edition consists of 80 pieces of jewelry made from 1990s’ vintage murrine featuring the iconic “rosette” design and mounted on gold-finished pendants.

«Venetian beads are Unesco World Heritage and Amourrina highlights love at first sight for murrine, glasswork, the time needed and the know-how that goes into making these stones more precious than gemstones,» explained Elisa Evangelisti, founder of Amourrina. «My wish is to contribute to enhancing and revitalizing Venetian craftsmanship. The time of the last artisans who carry out this workmanship is valuable, and the result of their unique, unrepeatable and state-of-the-art work is incomparable. By protecting the work of craftsmen, Amourrina aims to promote the preservation of Murano's artisan traditions and thus support the well-being of local communities.» To strongly express this message, the brand has actively involved prominent figures from the art world in its “For Art Lovers” campaign. Artists, gallery owners, curators and collectors lent their faces for an extraordinary photo shoot by talented photographer Cristina Spagnolo under the creative direction of Alessandra Cardone. The images are a visual ode to the intrinsic beauty of Venetian craftsmanship and the essential role of artisans in keeping these traditions alive. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the collection - available online as of 20th April 2024 on the brand's website - will be donated to the “Committee for the Preservation of the Art of Venetian Glass Beads (CPVV)”, which promoted and led the transnational Italy-France candidacy process for including Glass Bead Art in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a recognition obtained in December 2020, that is actively involved in promoting, transmitting and preserving the Art.
